Free · One film a week · Levels 1 to 3 · Season 4: 8 weeks left

Learn English with movies.

Every week we turn a good film into a free English lesson: the story in simple English, words to know, scenes to watch again, a short quiz and questions to talk about. Our levels match EnglishConnect, so you always know your next step.

Which level am I?

Five quick questions. We'll match you to Level 1, 2 or 3, the same levels EnglishConnect uses.

  1. 1. Which word means the opposite of "big"?
  2. 2. Choose the right sentence.
  3. 3. "I ___ this movie last week."
  4. 4. Read: "Maria was tired, but she stayed up to finish the film with her son." Why did Maria stay up?
  5. 5. A friend says, "That film really moved me." What do they mean?

Answer all five. It's a friendly guide, not an official test.

How each lesson works

Before, while and after you watch.

  1. 1

    Turn on English subtitles

Read and listen at the same time. When it feels easy, try without them.

  2. 2

    Learn the words first

Every lesson starts with words to know. Read them, hear them, then listen for them in the film.

  3. 3

    Watch one scene again

The watch guide picks scenes worth a second look. You'll catch new words each time.

  4. 4

    Say it out loud

Pause and repeat a line the way the actor says it. It helps your speaking and your accent.

  5. 5

    Take the quiz

A few quick questions after the film show you how much you understood.

  6. 6

    Talk about it

Use the conversation questions with family, friends or a free EnglishConnect group.
